Hagley Silver

This huge park probably still holds 1000's of old silver coins ;)
Spent another crisp morning out near Victoria Lake today.

This was one of the areas i spent an hour or so at.

1908 Penny. Rescanned the hole, another 80's number just beside it....

 1912 Sixpence :)

I still have the rest of the week off so far, so will be out and about most mornings this week.

HH all :)

Frosty Morning Hunt

Heard it was supposed to get down to -4 this morning,
so i decided to get up early and was out n about by 6:00am!

Hagley Park with a frost and low layer of fog looked quite cool :)

I'm going to go buy a decent camera to take along on hunts this week comming.

In the end , I got a few dollars, few pre dec coins
and a stainless steel Skagen ring from the areas i hunted at this morning.

Looking forward to having a few days off comming up,
so ill be back hitting the new silver producing area soon ;)

(Yes, gloves were on this morning - lol)

more pics - to come, sometime.

30 Min Hunt

Got off work a little earlier tonight, and there was still about 45 mins light left,
so i went to Spencer Park for what turned out to be about a 30 minute hunt.

First target was a $2 coin, then came a wingnut, bottle cap, penny+1935 shilling in the same hole, couple 1c holes, then with darkness starting to set in, i finally found my 1st silver half crown...

Pretty well worn, but happy with the find all the same :) Solid 89/90 signal on the Goldbugpro.

HH all :)

Scanned Finds

Here is some of my latest finds scanned...

If anyone knows anything about the button in the 3rd pic, please say :)
Im guessing the last 2 letters are F and B. The 1st one could be G or C?

Added: Some clearer pics...
Think i needa go invest in a lupe/loupe or however they are spelled ;p

May 2012 Update

I haven't had alot of time out hunting since the last post,
and in the last few weeks I've been working pretty much full time.

I have managed to get out on a few occasions, 04/05 being the latest. Had a scan around a new area of Hagley Park that i have not tried before and came away with some interesting bits n pieces, a 34 sixpence and a couple foreign 1870's coins.

About 12:30 i stopped, had lunch and was heading home, and decided i would do another few hours at Spencer Park. Found 2 silver rings, about $13 in goldies and a few other coins.

Also, bout a month or so ago, decided to try another detector, and bought a Fisher Goldbugpro.
Looking foward to planning a trip over to the coast or down south in the next few months, to actually have a go at finding some gold nuggets :)

Few clearer pics to come when i borrow the nice camera again ;)

$14 on the 14th

I've not had any interesting finds since my last post. Been out 7 times, and found a total of $30 in clad, 9 pennys, 3 half pennys, $1-ish of old NZ coins, few keys, and a heap of trash! lol ;)

Todays finds were from a park i havent tried before...

1922 is the date on the penny. I will be having a proper look (not just goldie shooting) over the next few days, and it will hopefully produce some coins of the silver kind once i turn off the discrim again ;)

HH all :)

Oh btw - Does http://metaldetectingnz.blogspot.com/ work for anyone else? Or is it just me thats blocked from viewing it?

Treasure Hunting in Oxford

Noticed a members post on the gold forum this afternoon, and decided to head out to Oxford to help search for a lost engagement ring. No luck in finding the ring, but the exercise, meeting up with 3 other detectorist's, and an alright goldie count made it a great afternoon out ;)

Suppose i should have really re-buried this one, ahwell ;)
